Come and make a beautiful case for your small scissors or a case to keep your needles in order at Fiber Flurry in Perry, NY on April 5, 2026. Using natural dyed wool yarn, participants will learn some basic embroidery stitches on felt and also how to use the blanket stitch to finish the edge. All materials provided except the scissors.

Ellen will be teaching a beginner-friendly Felting class as part of this year’s Fiber Flurry, an annual celebration of fiber arts hosted by the Arts Council for Wyoming County in Perry, NY. With expanded programming and a vibrant community of makers, Fiber Flurry offers the perfect backdrop for learning new skills and connecting with fellow fiber enthusiasts.

Participants will learn to weave a beginner level round reed basket and add color and texture. Please bring an old towel and sharp scissors(non-fabric).  Ages 15 and up (ages 12 to 14 can participate but need help from an adult).  

Napkins fit perfectly in this easy basket with a lashed rim. Good for complete beginners.

Ellen will be teaching a beginner-friendly Needle Felted Landscape class at Art’s Cafe in Springville, NY, sponsored by Springville Center for the Arts.

In this two-hour session, Ellen will guide participants through creating a woven tray - perfect for a multitude of uses.
